Sunderland 1-3 Chelsea

Chelsea came from behind to win at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland on Tuesday.

Carlo Ancelotti picked up his first Premier League away win as Chelsea were made to come from behind to claim victory.

Despite dominating the first half, the visitors went in at the break trailing to Darren Bent's second goal in as many matches for Sunderland.

But once Michael Ballack had fired them back on level terms within seven minutes of the restart they never looked back.

Frank Lampard handed them the lead from the penalty spot nine minutes later and Deco's sweet 70th-minute strike proved more than enough to see off the Black Cats.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has suggested Manchester United cannot afford many more slip-ups.

Chelsea are eight points clear of Sir Alex Ferguson's side after their 2-0 win at Blackburn Rovers and United's defeat by Arsenal.

United do have a match in hand but Lampard believes it is far easier to set the pace than try to catch up.

Lampard said: "It is a nice gap for us. It is far from over, but in the last two years it's been the other way round.

"We've been five points behind them and it is not easy. When you are chasing, you really can't afford to lose games.

"It is certainly easier when you are making the pace, because the points give you a bit of security."

Chelsea's victory in appalling weather conditions at Blackburn underlined that under Luiz Felipe Scolari the team has backbone as well as flair.

Lampard insists the points were vital because it will put pressure on the chasing clubs - especially United and Arsenal.

He added: "You have to remember Liverpool are neck and neck with us. But Man United and Arsenal, who are always big contenders, are those few points behind.

"It is not easy to chase, the pressure builds up and if you drop points you fall further behind.

"It's difficult either way, because the top four don't lose too many games or drop too many points. You certainly don't want to be too far behind at this point.

"We did it last year and we made a lot of ground up. But in the end we lost the title by two points, so it feels nice to be in the lead."

Striker Shevchencko poised for San Siro return

AC Milan director Silvano Ramaccioni believes Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchencko is on the verge of securing a return to the San Siro.

The Ukraine striker has endured two disappointing years at Stamford Bridge following a big-money move from Milan. Reports suggest Shevchenko could return to Milan in what would initially be a season-long loan deal following a meeting between former club president Silvio Berlusconi and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in Sardinia last Thursday.

The Italian press claim the deal will be finalised on Thursday or at the latest 24 hours later and Ramaccioni agrees. 'Shevchenko in the Rossoneri shirt? There really isn't much more to be done,' he told Radio Goal.

'We are close to the end of the deal and I hope that these little things that have to be fulfilled are done as soon as possible. 'I would be extremely delighted if Shevchenko returns to Milan and I am ready to embrace the Ukraine champion again, for us it's about a return home.'

Pizzaro plots career resurrection with Bremen

Claudio Pizarro has returned to Werder Bremen after a seven-year absence looking to kick-start a career which stalled at Chelsea.

The Peruvian striker struggled to make an impression after he was lured to Stamford Bridge by then Blues boss Jose Mourinho last summer.

Pizarro's first-team hopes were not helped when Mourinho was replaced by Avram Grant a few months later and the 29-year-old striker concedes his time in west London did not go as he had hoped.

'It was okay, I mean I still had some positive experiences, but it certainly did not turn out the way I had imagined,' said Pizarro who made the majority of his 21 appearances from the substitutes' bench.

'One of the best coaches in the world wanted to have me in his team, but then three months later he was gone.

'That is just my bad luck, but such is football.'

Pizarro has returned to Bremen, the club where he scored 29 goals in 56 games between 1999 and 2001, on a season-long loan.

The move came following an inquiry from Bremen director of sport Klaus Allofs, and while the former Bayern Munich striker still has a contract with Chelsea until 2011, he insists he is focused on helping his new team claim some silverware this season.

'I wanted to fight (for a place at Chelsea), but then Klaus came and told me all about Bremen,' he said.

'A lot has changed and I think Werder have improved in a lot of areas and the team has a lot of quality.

'I want to win things and that is why I am here.'

Chelsea have confirmed Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari as their new manager.

The Brazilian was one of the favourites to succeed Avram Grant in the Stamford Bridge hotseat but the timing of his appointment has come as a huge surprise.

Scolari is currently managing Portugal at Euro 2008 and was not expected to make a decision about his future until after the tournament.

Chelsea said in a statement: 'Chelsea Football Club is delighted to confirm that Luiz Felipe Scolari will be the club's new manager from July 1, 2008.

'Felipe has great qualities. He is one of the world's top coaches with a record of success at country and club level, he gets the best out of a talented squad of players and his ambitions and expectations match ours.

'He was the outstanding choice.

'Out of respect for his current role as head coach of the Portuguese national team, and to ensure minimum disruption to this work, there will be no further comment from Chelsea FC nor from Felipe about his new role until his employment with us commences.'

Despite a number of big-name managers being linked with the job following Avram Grant's sacking last month, Scolari was always Chelsea's number one choice and nobody else was offered the position.

He is likely to be unveiled during the first week of July, at which time the details of his contract will also be revealed.

Scolari's appointment comes less than a week after he insisted he would not discuss his future until after Euro 2008.

He said at the time: 'What's going to happen to me after Euro 2008 - if I am going to stay or leave - concerns (only) me and I am not going to talk about it now.

'If I decide to leave or stay, I am only going to make a public declaration at the end of Euro 2008. If something else happens during the Euros, I am not going to answer although things may go this way or that way but I am here to work for the Euros.

'I started working for Portugal in 2004, then I signed up for 2006... I might sign again, I might leave the squad, I don't know.'

Scolari's biggest achievement was leading Brazil to World Cup glory in 2002 and he famously turned down the chance to manage England following Sven-Goran Eriksson's departure in 2006.

The 59-year-old has no experience of managing at club level in Europe.

Before becoming an international manager, he enjoyed success at club level in Brazil, winning South America's equivalent of the Champions League - the Copa Libertadores - with two different clubs.

Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo could come up against his current coach next season if Manchester United succeed in fending off the interest of Real Madrid but the winger does not begrudge the Brazilian ending his time in international football.

Instead, he respect's Scolari's right to move on - even though his presence is sure to galvanise Chelsea as they seek to put an end to United's two-season hold on the Premier League title.

'He needs to look for his future. I respect that,' said Ronaldo, speaking after tonight's match against the Czech Republic but before Scolari's appointment was announced.

'If he has better conditions, better things for the family and for him, I respect that. 'This is football, it's always like that.

If he goes there it's going to be difficult. If he doesn't go there, another coach will do good work as well.' Former Chelsea midfielder Ray Wilkins described Scolari as 'a manager of top quality'.

He told Sky Sports: 'It appears that he's up for a challenge. He's a big guy, he's charismatic. This will be a breath of fresh air.'

Stamford Bridge legend Ron Harris also welcomed the appointment. 'I think it's a top-class appointment,' he told Sky Sports News. 'They have got a top-class manager.' Harris believes Scolari will introduce free-flowing football to Chelsea.

'When he was manager of Brazil their emphasis was on attacking style - I think he will bring that into Chelsea football club,' he added.

Ancelotti not interested in Chelsea vacancy

Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed any suggestion that he could become Chelsea's new manager.

The AC Milan coach issued an unequivocal statement this evening pledging his loyalty to the Serie A side for the foreseeable future. 'I'm staying at AC Milan for sure, and for many seasons to come,' the Italian said.

'I've not spoken to anyone at Chelsea - any other reports are football talk and pure speculation.' Ancelotti's words followed hot on the heels of Chelsea's own denial of reports that they had made an approach for the double Champions League winner and agreed terms for him to take over.

He was strongly linked with the Stamford Bridge post this afternoon amid suggestions his advisors have reached a settlement with the Blues over a move to England. But both Chelsea and Milan refuted claims that he could be in line to replace the sacked Avram Grant.

'Contrary to reports Chelsea Football Club has not reached agreement with any individual to become manager, nor have we sought permission from any organisation to talk to their manager,' a Chelsea statement read.

'We are extremely happy how our search is progressing.' AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani, meanwhile, denied Ancelotti met Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich during a visit to Paris yesterday.

The Rossoneri boss was reported to have met the Russian at the Four Seasons hotel in the French capital to discuss terms to take over at the west London club, but Galliani has been assured by Ancelotti the reports are incorrect. 'I have spoken to Ancelotti and can confirm that he was in Paris on Monday, but not to meet Abramovich,' Galliani said.

'That is something he has denied expressively. He was in Paris on his own business. 'Ancelotti is coach of Milan and will continue to be so.' The 48-year-old is under contract with Milan until 2010. The Serie A club are keen to keep hold of the coach despite his lack of silverware this season and him failing to secure Champions League qualification.

New Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho would not reveal whether he thought Ancelotti would be the right man to take the position he occupied until seven months ago, and insisted his former employer knows what he is doing.

'Ancelotti is a great coach and Chelsea is a big club with great players, but Abramovich has better experience of football at the moment than when he started with Chelsea and I don't think he needs any other opinion,' Mourinho said at his unveiling today.

'I cannot say if Ancelotti wants to move there or not, or whether Milan are open to the offer or closed. 'All I can say is that I support Chelsea and wish the best to whoever does take over.'

Ancelotti has won the Champions League twice with Milan and his European experience is particularly desirable to Chelsea, who lost the final of this year's elite club competition on penalties to Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho has described Chelsea's season as 'really bad' and insists the London club's campaign could only be described as great by someone with 'the philosophy of a loser'.

The former Chelsea boss was speaking before his successor Avram Grant was sacked, but was critical of the 52-year-old Israeli's short stint in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho, when asked if the season had been a good one as depicted by Grant, told The Observer: 'That depends on your philosophy of leadership. 'In my philosophy it was a very bad one because in football 'almost' means defeat and Chelsea almost won the Carling Cup, almost won the Champions League and almost won the Premier League. Almost is nothing.

'After two titles per season for the last three years there were zero titles this season, which in my philosophy means a really bad season. Maybe in the philosophy of a loser this was a great season, which I respect.'

Mourinho admitted to being 'very sad' at Chelsea's defeat in Moscow to Manchester United, adding that the supporters, the board and many of the players 'deserve more'.

However, he sounded a note of optimism, adding: 'I believe that after an empty season new success will come to Chelsea. And I will always be a Chelsea supporter.'

Grant pays tribute to hearbroken skipper Terry

A clearly crestfallen Avram Grant sympathised with John Terry after his missed penalty in the shoot-out eventually cost Chelsea the trophy.

'What can I say? We dominated the game, we hit the post two times and then we lost on penalties,' the Blues boss told Sky Sports.

'JT is the main reason we are here. We had a difficult time and he is part of the team. The team play excellently and I am very proud.

'He was great all season, he was great in the semi-final and this game. He is the reason they didn't create any chances - I feel sorry for him and the team.'

Grant, whose future at Stamford Bridge remains unclear, promised Blues fans his team would be back.

'It's not the last time you will see Chelsea in the final,' the Israeli vowed.

'You will see us back and we will win the final.'

Lampard believed Lady Luck deserted Chelsea tonight after they got back into the game following a poor start.

'Once we woke up and started playing after half an hour we hit the bar and post and looked the stronger team for sure,' he told Sky Sports. 'It's very cruel but that's football.

'We knew that once we started to pass we could start to dominate the game. We just felt very comfortable and I felt if anyone would score it would be us.'

The England midfielder also took time to offer words of consolation to Terry. 'John is Mr Chelsea,' Lampard added.

'He wants it more than anyone and not many centre-halves would stand up and take a penalty of that importance. 'John did what he did and he will be back.'

Following the recent death of his mother, Pat, Lampard admitted he was struggling to contain his emotions. 'I feel very emotionally drained,' he revealed.

'It (the final) has become almost not that important with things personally recently.

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has vowed to one day return to the Barclays Premier League.

The Portuguese tactician left the club by mutual consent on Thursday and has been replaced by Avram Grant.

Villa to cost "£100million"

Valencia have warned Chelsea that negotiations for star striker David Villa would start at £100million. British newspapers have suggested that Spain striker Villa was top of Jose Mourinho's shopping list for the January transfer window.

But Valencia president Juan Soler insisted on Tuesday that his club were committed to keeping the 24-year-old.

"Officially we have not received any interest or an offer from Chelsea for Villa," Soler told PA Sport.

"I met (Valencia sporting director Amedeo) Carboni this morning and he didn't mention anything regarding any possible interest from Chelsea for our striker.

Lawak Bola

Kenapa masa perlawanan bolasepak adalah 45 minit, dan bukannya 30 minit ataupun 1 jam (utk separuh masa)?

Bagi persoalan ini, saintis sukan dan pemain-pemain veteran tidak dapat memberikan jawapan yang tepat. Namun demikian, ada seorang pengutip bola yang telah memberikan jawapan yang boleh diterima akal.

Dia menjawab...."Sebab mengapa bolasepak dimainkan dalam 45 minit ialah...Terdapat 2 pasukan di dalam setiap perlawanan dan ada 11 orang pemain bagi pasukan. Setiap pemain mempunyai "2 biji bola" dan membawanya setiap masa semasa permainan berlangsung di dalam padang.Jadi, jumlah kesemua bola bagi kedua-dua pasukan ialah 44 biji bola. Terdapat sebiji bolasepak yang digunakan di dalam perlawanan. Oleh itu, jumlah keseluruhan ialah 45 minit.

Persoalan terjawab !!!

Tetapi, kadang-kadang ada masa tambahan selama 2 minit...itu adalah "bola referee"!

Apa strategiku??...

Alkisah pasal bola ni, mmg ada org minat giler kat bola sepak ni.sbb tu lah ada iklan "tido bola, mkn bola..." gara-gara pasal bola ni, hidup kita boleh jadi tak betul kalau tak kena dgn caranya.bg aku, bola bola jugak, solat jgn lupa...hmm ramai yg lupa pasal solat kalu dah ingat n minat bolat ni..tgk time World Cup 2006 lah,kalu match lewat pagi,hmm sanggup bgn n tgk bola lg dari buat solat tahajjud 2 rakaat dulu...

Bagi aku, bolat tu dah bulat pun,tak payah la kita nak minat lbh2 sgt kat bola tu..biar berpada-pada lah...wpun aku minat the Blues, tapi aku ttp ingatkan diri aku yg bola itu mmg dah bulat...so, biarlah bola yg bulat, asalkan pendirian hati kita tetap n tak tergolek-golek mcm bola yg bulat tu...
